Le Petit Napoléon- A Bit Of France In Manzanillo

Submitted by Manzanillo Blogger on Tuesday, 12 May 20093 Comments

Le Petit Napoléon is a quaint, family run, French crepe restaurant that is a much welcomed addition to Manzanillo. The restaurant boasts the best crepes in Manzanillo, and it holds up to that claim admirably. The owners are wonderful hospitable people that love to cook. Its like visiting family when you eat here. The beautiful french music and cozy decor add to the experience. It's a dining experience that  meets the kingly demands of even the most exacting of  little tyrants (in a good way).

The menu confidently puts forth a slender selection, that is ALL delicious. Start with a dinner Spinach crepe. The crepe is stuffed with cheese and then topped with a poblano, spinach, cream sauce. The light flavor of the poblano is excellent. We also like the artichoke creme crepe named 'Holli' after it's inventor. It bursts with flavor and pairs nicely with the spinach crepe. The apple smoked sausage crepe, and the mushroom crepe with a white wine sauce are both amazing as well. The only salad on the menu is a real treat. It comes covered with soft warm bacon, a layer of shredded Parmesan, and warm almonds. It puts the "Oh my" in "Oh my this is the most delicious bacon salad I've ever eaten." Hungry yet? Leave room for dessert!

There are about 10 different dessert crepes, and while we haven't tried them all (yet), they are magnificent. The owner and chef love to cook. She's one of those people who genuinely wants to make you happy with her food. Every time we go, she is whipping up a new creation that makes my mouth melt in happiness, i.e. a dessert crepe with a homemade blackberry sauce, homemade dark chocolate, and shavings of white chocolate on top. Other dessert crepes worth a mention include the chocolate, nut and brandy crepe and the tequila, chocolate and banana crepe. Also, if you are a fan of tea, try the Masala with your dessert.

We ordered a large salad, two dinner crepes, a dessert crepe, and drinks and it came out to 160 pesos. Most French restaurants in the States charge that just to have the Maitre d' take you to your seat with great disdain. Here you get the taste, friendliness, decent price, and great atmosphere. They also speak English!

You can find it just across the street from the radio station in Soriana's parking lot. There is a large two story covered building with several shops in it. From the front there is a clothing store on the bottom and an Arabic Taco place (which is also delicious) on the top. In the back is a wood fired pizza place. Le Petit is upstairs and there is a large sign and menu pointing the way. This is a great place to go after a movie for some dessert. They are open from 6-11:59pm, Wed.-Sat. and 5-10pm on Sunday.
