A lesson learned- Guest post by Beverly P.

You guys are awesome. I asked my readers if they would like to write for Manzanillo Blog, and you came through! Please enjoy the following guest post by Beverly P.

Vacations are wonderful and usually present lots of marvelous and unexpected events….  those events that memories are made of.

Awhile back, on an excursion through the city of Colima, my friend and I found the huge park we had been looking for and wanting to explore.  It was mid-afternoon as we walked among the small ponds where wading birds of all kinds were enjoying themselves.  Then, as the shadows grew longer and late afternoon settled in, the birds began their nightly ritual of a few birds at a time leaving the pond to fly over and root in the trees.

My friend, however, had been wanting a photo of a great number of birds in flight.  Since they were then roosting in the trees by the pond, she suggested that she would be able to get a great photo of them flying if I went to stand under the tree, thus causing them to be alerted to a perceived danger and would then fly away.  She thought that would present the perfect photo opt.  So, with her camera ready, I casually walked over to stand under the largest tree with the greatest number of birds already roosting.  Sure enough, as I was completely below the cover of the great tree, the birds did indeed take to flight.  But, unbeknownst to either of us…  when birds take flight they apparently lighten their load.  So, at the moment the great flock of birds left the branches and took wing, a great shower came down upon me as if it was raining but, in fact, it was birds pooping.  At that point, I was dripping and my friend laughing too hard to garner the photo she had hoped for.

The next step was to find a faucet or some water supply to get as much of myself cleaned as possible before making our way back to the hotel for a complete shower and hair washing.

Thus ended an unexpected hilarious day at a park in Colima.

The park is called "Griselda Alveras Metropolitan Regional Park" You can read more about it on Sparks Colima blog. Thanks so much Beverly for the submission! We are happy to consider anybodies submission for a guest post to Manzanillo Blog. Take a look at our Guest Post article for more information.
