Manzanillo Circus Ayala

Submitted by Manzanillo Blogger on Monday, 2 February 20093 Comments

If you have been following this blog for a while, you may remember how excited I was last time the Manzanillo circus was in town, only to have it move on before I could actually get tickets to watch the show. Well, the circus is back, actually there are two going on in Manzanillo right now (What's the plural of that? circuses, circusen, circusi...) Circo Ayala, and Circo Rolex. One of our reporters in the field and local photographer Aubrey D recently was able to attend the Circo Ayala, and the following is the report they brought back:

The Not So Electrifying Manzanillo Circus

Don't get me wrong; I love the circus as much as the next person. And the people that worked in this circus did they're best. That being said, it was quite painful. At some parts I felt like I was watching a Telenova, only with more tights, flips, and monkeys riding pigs (Yeah I didn’t understand that one either). There was one point in the show where 6 couples clad in white appeared and proceeded to simultaneously ruin the Bee Gees, Casey and the sunshine band, and the Backstreet Boys forever with there dirty dancing moves.

Don’t even get me started on Tarzan. He took the word Butt-flap to a whole new meaning by showing more of his gluteus maximus than I EVER needed to see. Despite the scary clowns and Tarzan in his birthday suit, I did enjoy seeing the bobcats and the monkeys. They were the highlight of the show. I tried to get some pictures of them but a kind worker sarcastically made me feel bad by telling me that even though Latinos are not aloud to take pictures, extranjeros have a special pass.

The kids seemed to enjoy it. There were little ponies taking frightened children for rides, and at one point all the kids were invited to the main arena to meet some of the characters. So I’m happy a majority of the audience was able to enjoy the show on a  60 Peso price tag.

What has been your experience with this circus? We have heard very good reviews of the other circus called Circo Rolex, which is on the other side of the boulevard just South of Pacifco Azul. Some people have traveled as far as Colima to see it twice! We will share our findings with you all as we... find them.

Ok lets get this straight, the Tarzan in question was not me :) I very rarely prance around in my leopard print thong, and if I did I’m pretty sure no one would pay money to see it.
Went to the circus once, lets just say “tick”.

I went to the Circo Rolex tonight. It was actually VERY good. The show was over 2 hours long and was quite entertaining.

    I would definitely go again!
