Juanitos- Restaurant Review

Submitted by Manzanillo Blogger on Tuesday, 7 October 20084 Comments

Nearly everybody who comes to Manzanillo ends up at the restaurant Juanito's at one point or another. I don't know how, but they all seem to know about Juanito's. Juanito's restaurant always seems to be packed and bustling with visitors and locals at meal times.

In fact it is so popular of a place that other locations are measured in distance from Juanito's. When asking for directions it's often you will get an answer like “Oh yes, the HSBC bank is on the left side in Salagua, not far past Juanito's.” You have probably noticed that we do the same thing in our blog. Some restaurants are so good they deserve to be called landmarks.

It is a popular place for good reason. The food is good, the prices are cheap, and the staff friendly (and usually English speaking too). They also have free Wi Fi Internet and a giant TV for watching whatever popular sporting event is going on at the time.

Juanito's menu is a mixture of Mexican and American food. Both are done pretty well. So if you are craving a taste of home, you will probably find it here. French toast, fresh juices, yogurt with granola, large stacks of pancakes, and their famous Machaca with eggs are great for breakfast. For lunch and dinner our favorites are the Juanito's Burger- a double decker delicacy, the enchilada suizas, or their Cuban torta.

Juanito's has been a landmark in Manzanillo since the 70's. They started as a humble burger joint closer to downtown, and eventually expanded their menu and restaurant to what we see now. We certainly hope this place sticks around for another 30 years.

You can find this restaurant by asking almost anybody in town. Or you can drive down the main boulevard, Miguel De La Madrid, and just past the speed bump (tope in Spanish) you will find Juanito's restaurant on the Western side of the street.

Blvd. Miguel de la Madrid km. 14
Santiago, Manzanillo, Colima
Phone: (314) 333 1388

We are very proud to have Juanito's as one of our sponsors. Check out their website for many more pictures, information, and menu items.

Ahhh… Juanito’s. That was our first restaurant we ate at on arriving in Manzanillo after a grueling day of driving from Mazatlán five years ago. (Well before the new cuota road was even started…)

I have always liked their fresh lemonada. Lately my favorite food item is the Torta Juanito’s; tender beef tips in a slightly spicy sauce drenched over a torta with a layer of refried beans, a salad, and great fries. Very satisfying meal at a reasonable price.

Unlike some other places in Manzanillo, the food and service are always very consistent and of high quality. ¡Viva Juanito’s!

ok guys, i really don’t want to sound harsh, but juanito’s isn’t what it used to be. they had better cooks, the food and price was better, plus they add a lot of taxes.

the service…isn’t always fast enough even when there’s no people in the low season! a few years ago, this problem never existed.

i’m not saying that the resteraunt is 100% bad, don’t get me wrong, i use to love that place to death! but the food isn’t quite the same…

the only food i really enjoy ever there are the double stack hotcakes, chilaquiles, huevos divorciados and the club sandwich.

i also credit the resteraunt for being the only one in mzlo that serves chili dogs!

Yes, yes, yes!! Juanito’s is the spot to eat at at least once while in Manzanillo. The food is pretty good but what I enjoy most is the atmosphere. I’ve always felt welcomed and everyone there is extremely kind. You won’t find anything lavish or high end there, I think the tv was a crt and not plasma last I was there, but it’s Juanito’s mystique and history that makes it fun to eat there.

I’m currently going through their snazzy flash website; trying to find any of my family in their “gallery”.
