Safety in Manzanillo
Perhaps one of the biggest concerns for travelers and tourists in Mexico is the matter safety. With all that has been going on in Mexico, many wonder if it's safe to travel to Manzanillo, and rightly so. Between the drug war, the corruption, the violent crime, and theft, Mexico travel has left a bad taste in the mouth of many. They even hired Rudolph Giuliani the former mayor of NYC to help clean up Mexico City!
However, it is comforting to know that the safest state in all of Mexico is Colima. And the safest city in all of Colima is Manzanillo. Recent reports say the crime report is hovering around 1.1%. People here leave their doors unlocked, and car windows rolled down, sometimes with the keys left in the ignition. It's very rare to hear of a crime here, when you ask the locals they just smile, roll their eyes, and shake their heads. Usually the police spend their free time directing traffic at traffic lights, even when the traffic light already works!
A very good article about the safety in Manzanillo has already been written. You can find it here: Saftey in Manzanillo. If you are planning a trip to Manzanillo, and are concerned about your families safety and well-being, you can rest assured that the biggest danger here is not wanting to leave.
